Two found dead at scene of rural Miami County fire

BUCYRUS — Investigators have found a second body at the scene of a fire in rural Miami County east of Bucyrus Monday.  Firefighters found one body while they were fighting the fire involving a house, a barn and a truck in the 3400 block of West 239th Wtreet Monday afternoon.  The Miami County Sheriff’s office received a 911 call shortly before 8 a.m. Monday, Undersheriff Wayne Minckley said.  Firefighters from the Louisburg Fire Department, Paola Fire Department, and Johnson County Fire District No. 2 battled the fire, he said.  When firefighters arrived, the two buildings were engulfed in flames, he said.  The sheriff’s office and the Kansas state fire marshal’s office are handling the investigation, he said.  The investigation was likely to continue today.  Although the bodies weren’t identified, neighbors told Kansas City television stations that the property owners, Jim and Sandy Jerden, haven’t been accounted for.
