OSAWATOMIE — An Osawatomie teen was found dead on Union Pacific railroad tracks about two miles southwest of Osawatomie Monday evening.  Union Pacific Railroad employees spotted the teen laying on the railroad tracks at about the area of 355th Street and Bethel Church Road and called the Miami County Sheriff’s Department at about 5 p.m., Undersheriff Wayne Minckley said.  Deputies ran about three-quarters of a mile north on the track and found Keith Orr, 15, on the tracks next to his bicycle, Minckley said.  Deputies performed CPR until the Osawatomie Fire Department and Miami County EMS arrived. Minckley said it appears Orr may have died because of the heat, rather than being hit by a train.  The teen had been bicycling with friends and told them he wasn’t feeling well and he left to go home.  It appears Orr was riding his bicycle on the tracks because his bicycle was found nearby, Minckley said.  The preliminary finding from the autopsy indicates the teen’s death was of natural causes, which may be due to dehydration and heat exhaustion, he said.  This case remains under investigation.
