Trucks collide at Centerville quarry

CENTERVILLE — Two truck drivers were injured when their trucks crashed in front of the Centerville rock quarry Friday morning.  Jimmy Simons, 56, Mound City, was driving a Linn County dump truck when he pulled out of the quarry and turned south on Linn County Road 1077, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.  Willis Birchard, 50, Paola, was driving south when his truck hit Simons’ truck  in the rear, the highway patrol said.  Simons was taken to Miami County Medical Center in Paola. Birchard was taken to KU Medical Center.  The highway patrol said they were both wearing seat belts.
