WICHITA — The first Unmanned Aerial Systems summit in Kansas will be Oct. 15 at the National Center for Aviation Training in Wichita. In the past few months, there has been a series of discussions about the use of UASs, also known as drones, across the state, by law enforcement, agriculture, emergency management, small business and research officials.  Kansas stands to gain $2.9 billion dollars over the next 10 years by using drones in agriculture, search and rescue, surveying and more, said Tiffany Brown, Kansas Dept. of Transportation director of aviation.  The summit is designed both improve the public perception of drones and to attract drone-related companies to the state, she said.  The summit will highlight how Kansas is already among the top ten states for drone benefits and there will be a discussion about the use of drones as a hobby or a business.  There will also be a drone flight demonstration and a business development session.  The public is invited to attend.  Register on-line at the web site http://www.kansasuassummit.com.
