Former library director dies

OTTAWA — Long-time Ottawa librarian Barbara Dew has died at the age of 68.  She died Thursday in Olathe after a brief struggle with cancer.  She worked at libraries at Richmond, Mo., Prairie View Junior High School and Ottawa Junior High School before starting to work  at the Ottawa Public Library in 1975.  She retired in 2007 as the library’s director.  She was involved in the General Edward Hand Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Ottawa and the Franklin County Historical Society. A private memorial service will be held later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to the Prairie Paws Animal Shelter, Ottawa Library Endowment Fund, Franklin County Historical Society or the charity of your choice in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa.
