OTTAWA — An Ottawa man who held Ottawa police at knifepoint during an hour-long standoff on the Prairie Spirit Trail in southern Ottawa last summer has agreed to a plea agreement.  Joseph Crawley has pleaded no contest to aggravated battery and criminal threat.  He had faced eight charges of aggravated battery against a law enforcement officer and two of criminal threat.  Officers surrounded Crawley behind the Super Wash after a report of an altercation with his mother at the Ottawa Pizza Hut.  During the confrontation, Crawley held a knife to his throat.  During the standoff, he threatened to kill his mother.  When officers finally charged him, a Franklin County deputy received a cut to his hand.  Crawley was treated at Ransom Memorial Hospital after he was bitten by a sheriff’s dog.  Sentencing will be early next year.
