Bank strippers letting facade fall

Posted in Uncategorized by kofonews on July 1, 2017

OTTAWA — Workers have started ripping off the front of Kansas State Bank, 236 N. Main St. As part of the bank’s 100th anniversary, the façade will be taken off to expose and rehabilitate the bank’s original building front, bank vice president Blake Jorgensen said. The original façade was covered up in the 1960s when the drive-through facility was added to the bank, he said. The original façade includes classic bank columns. Jorgensen said it’s not known how long the project will last because no one knows the condition of the original building front. While construction is under way, the front doors on the east side of the bank will be closed except for emergencies, and customers will be re-routed to the other doors.
